The Emberwood Project

My daughter loves photoshoots and our whole family loves science fiction, fantasy, and similar genres, so naturally, we started doing related photoshoots when my kids got old enough. My son already had a Legend of Zelda photoshoot and my daughter and I wanted to do something a little different, so I came up with the idea that, because her brother played a swordsman, that she could be an archer. We came up with an original character that we initially called the “woodland archer”. I made most of the props and clothing for the shoot. As I occasionally daydreamed about her character, It steadily developed into far more than just that two-dimensional archer we initially created. I started world building and character development and soon we had a character named Kaolin that lives in a village within a dangerous forest and wants to be a “woodsman” like her dad instead of doing the typical work she’s expected to do. I have a whole plot line sketched out, but can’t share that yet. Below are the photos and the cinematic theme song:
